This year’s theme, “Voices of Preservation: Culture, Land & Legacy,” will explore critical conversations surrounding Gullah traditions, language preservation, cultural tourism, and heirs’ property conservation. Attendees will hear from inspiring speakers, including keynote speaker Ron Daise.

The North Carolina Summit is a gathering designed to celebrate, preserve, and amplify Gullah Geechee history, culture, and community in the NC. This year’s Summit will feature a Black Church Crawl, an immersive experience honoring the historic Black churches that have long stood as organizing hubs and cultural landmarks. Participants will step into the sacred spaces that continue to shape our communities today.

Join us April 18 from 11am-4pm for a guided tour through historic Black Churches in Wilmington, North Carolina. Come learn how these scared spaces have long anchored cultural preservation, education, and community leadership while exploring their deep connections to Gullah Geechee history and rice culture in North Carolina.

Join us for The Gullah Convening: Georgia Summit, a full-day gathering dedicated to honoring and preserving the legacy of the Gullah Geechee people in Georgia. This summit is part of a multi-state series bringing together cultural leaders, historians, policymakers, and community members to explore the past, present, and future of Gullah Geechee heritage along the Corridor.

For generations, the Gullah Geechee people have shaped the history, culture, and economy of the Southeast. Now, as conveners of the culture, we are deepening our strategic conversation across the Corridor, to amplify the voices to protect, preserve, and advance our heritage.
