GEORGETOWN, S.C. — The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor invites community members, cultural advocates, preservation professionals, educators, and visitors to attend the 2026 Gullah Geechee Corridor – South Carolina Summit, a two-day gathering celebrating the rich heritage, enduring traditions, and future of the Gullah Geechee people.
Taking place June 25–26, 2026, in historic downtown Georgetown, South Carolina, this year’s summit theme, “Voices of Preservation: Culture, Land & Legacy,” will explore critical conversations surrounding Gullah traditions, language preservation, cultural tourism, and heirs’ property conservation. Through engaging presentations, panel discussions, and community fellowship, attendees will gain insight into the challenges and opportunities facing Gullah Geechee communities today.
Registration is $50 per person and includes admission to both days of programming.
Day 1: Gullah Table Experience
Thursday, June 25, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The summit begins with the Gullah Table Experience, an evening of food, fellowship, and celebration at The Gullah Museum. Guests will enjoy a vibrant vendor market featuring local artisans and businesses, delicious catered cuisine, music from a live DJ, and opportunities to connect with fellow attendees.
Shopping begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:00 p.m.
Day 2: Voices of Preservation: Culture, Land & Legacy
Friday, June 26, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Bethel A.M.E. Church, Georgetown, South Carolina
The summit’s second day features a full schedule of workshops, panel discussions, and presentations focused on preserving Gullah Geechee culture and community assets. A boxed lunch will be provided for attendees.

Widely recognized as a cultural preservationist, author, educator, and former cast member of Nickelodeon’s Gullah Gullah Island, Ron Daise has dedicated his career to sharing and preserving Gullah Geechee history, language, and traditions.
The South Carolina Summit offers a unique opportunity to learn from experts, engage with community leaders, and celebrate the living legacy of the Gullah Geechee people.

Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor NHA
The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor is a federal, National Heritage Area.
